Boating, tennis, golfing in Florida
If your idea of a dream retirement involves access to your favorite sport year round, Florida has plenty of options for you. Boating
Many areas in Florida are geared toward the interests of boat owners. Options range from marinas with dry storage to exclusive waterfront homes with private docks. In Florida, people own all types of boats, but the most common are fishing boats, small cruisers, and sail boats. Residents claim the waters off southwest Florida, from Tampa to Key West, are among the best boating waters in the world. The fishing ain't bad either. Tennis
Both public and private tennis courts abound in Florida. Many communities build and maintain their own courts, especially in gated subdivisions. There are also tennis clubs and health clubs with courts for members only. Tennis is popular all over Florida, but especially in the Sarasota and Bradenton area. World famous tennis academies and a supportive community have attracted avid amateur players and many professional players to the area. Golf
While both public and private courses abound, some of the best golf courses in the country are built inside exclusive gated communities around Florida. Others are part of resort complexes like Amelia Island and the Doral Golf Resort. No matter what geographical area of Florida you're interested in, there is probably a course or driving range within easy driving distance. Some have even suggested the golf cart as the official state vehicle, as they are commonly driven on the streets of gated communities and older subdivisions built around golf courses.
